Lamps And Lighting
Published in: APLE Conference Programme, September 1938

The Metropolitan-Vickers stand will consist essentially of a series of cabinets in each of which will be mounted a lantern, with a sliding curtain in front to prevent glare. In these cainets will be shown a representative range of lanterns in operation. These include the company's well-known "Kingsway" lantern for Metrovick horizontal 250 and 400 watt mercury lamps, which embodies two-piece refractor plates, and the latest form of the "Liverpool" lantern, also for horizontal discharge lamps. The Liverpool lantern is of the cut-off type which is being extensively used in Lancashire.

An entirely new design of lantern for horizontal 250 and 400 watt lamps, having single piece refractor plates, will be shown on a novel display device.

The exhibits will also include the company's latest lantern for 80 and 125 watt mercury lamps, which has a single piece refractor bowl, and also the company's bowl refractor lantern for 250 and 400 watt vertical mercury lamps, which has outstanding design features making for strength and easy wiring.

The Metropolitan-Vickers Company has now entered the Sodium lamp field, and will show a 150 watt Sodium lamp in a lantern of the refractor type.

Scale models of two concrete and two steel street ligthing poles will also be shown, whilst the stand will be illuminated by Metrovick street lighting lantern with a Cosmos gas-filled tungsten filament lamp.
