In a small unfinished spur tunnel (which was going to be the First Aid Post on the 1940s plans) Laurence
pointed out a piece of custom built French equipment which was used by his father. It had survived remarkably well - the circuit
boards within the machine were still relatively shiny and uncorroded.
Lenses and mirrors were produced here - but strangely all the machinery for lense grinding and polishing has disappeared.
