cane hill bunker | dispelling the myths
17|08|03

There’s lots of nonsense talked about Cane Hill and this website has helped to put some of the wilder claims to rest. But others still circulated.

These all involved vague mentions of tunnels at Cane Hill. Not the service tunnels I’d ferreted through on my Grand Tour. No, these were different.

The reason for these tunnels was often vague. They were built as a Second World War bomb shelter or a nuclear bomb shelter for the hospital or even as an extension of the hospital mortuary.

And their contents were equally bizarre. In its corridors could be found gruesome hospital equipment, dreadful machines for the treatment of the mentally ill. And there were tractors. And railway semaphores.

Right... There’s only one thing for it. Car, camera, Coulsdon. It was time to document and dispel the myths.
