With all these huge 1930s monoliths scattered around the neighbourhood, with their engineers
working on secret telecommunication protocols and hardware, it seems strange
that the most secretive part of the site was concealed beneath an old store and lecture
room.
And when this building was demolished to make way for the new housing, the council
insisted: access would still be needed to this listed structure. Therefore this drab, single
storey block was built.
If none of this makes much sense, it will when the door is opened.
