The Chapel was cold and quiet. I quickly determined that the previously blocked entrances were now open, so the Chapel wasn’t the dead-end trap it was previously. The interior was looking dishevelled, cold and dull despite the summer’s light.

The group silently worked on setting up tripods and positioning cameras to capture the Chapel’s form. But I was more interested in the small rooms around its periphery which were often ignored. I soon located and photographed the confessional booths and Chaplain’s Room, overlooked by explorers when the nave the Chapel could be seen and acted as a far more impressive photographic target.
