The individual rooms were individually decorated, offering a personal touch for each patient. The large oval
windows allowed light from the ward into the room; perhaps these rooms were never originally lit individually but
relied on the light of the ward itself. A single peep-hole allowed staff to check the interior but the class of patient
didn’t merit the double peep-holes found in the acute wards.
