After penning the orientation tour of Cane Hill (an opportunity to document all those little miscellaneous bits of the site), I thought my time with this battered old asylum had come to a close.

However, after arranging a trip to Maidenhead, and a visit to the legendary Canadian Red Cross Memorial Hospital, it made sense to call in on Cane Hill one last time. Plus Smorgy, my fellow explorer, was very interested in the site and wanted to see it for herself.

So, with no expectations nor plans, I parked on Portnall’s Road and we walked in. It was a cold, foggy, damp December morning....
