“nurses' accommodation.”
And as I left the site, I took one last picture of the Nurses' Accommodation before taking the footpath home.
The footpath lead across fields scared with tree stumps and ripped out hedges. The Coulsdon bypass, a relief
road to cut across the town, has been started - and this new road cuts through the lower grounds of Cane
Hill. I don’t expect the hospital to suffer, but there will be changes.
One site that is threatened are the air raid shelters - often called The Tunnels or The Air Raid shelters. Hopefully
I will take a look at these before they’re demolished. There’s always lots to see at Cane Hill.
