The building was quiet and cold. Almost everything of interest, and value, had gone.
It quickly became apparent that we’d found a school, heavily expanded and changed during the lifetime of the hospital.
The school started as a single row of classrooms with connecting spine corridor, built with the majority
of the rest of the site in the early 1930s. A projecting spur of classrooms added at a later date wrapped the building
around the play area to the south. Further additions included a swimming pool (housed in a large wooden building) and a 1960s
Activity Area which continued the alignment of the original 1930s school.
