This was the only ward which reminded me of Rauceby. Despite the ugly brick partition wall, the green slime, and the broken windows, the architectural style and appearance reminded me of Hine’s other asylum I knew so well. An asylum layout which I thought I could scale up on this one, so I’d still have my bearings.

We were still lost.

The light fittings at Hellingly were really strange. They looked like glass cake stands; attached to metal triangular frames and I’d never seen anything like them. On our travels, I found one that wasn’t smashed.

Then again, was thick glass light fittings a good thing in an asylum?
