leybourne grange | reporters, residents and removers

It was whilst tramping across a paddock that we first saw Leybourne Grange. This land to the west of Maidstone was relatively flat and it afforded good views of various squat buildings dotted around the wooded area.

The horses belonged to a riding school for the disabled, one of the last parts of the site still active. Not that we were worrying the animals, as we spiritedly kept to the public footpath which dog-legged across the site.

As soon as we reached the Grange’s boundary, we ‘got lost’ and ended up in the former idiot colony.
