Finally we started back, walked out of the ward, and made our way back to the kitchens. As we passed one room,
Mr C stated that he could smell something burning.
Last thing we wanted was to be in the hospital with something burning.
Gingerly we investigated – the smell being strongest in this room. And the mystery was then solved – for we could smell the soot that was seeping out of the chimneys.
