Finally we found what we were looking for – the corridor to the Superintendent’s House.
The Superintendent was always on call for emergencies. And to save time, they built a double storey corridor from his small house at the front of the hospital to the main ward blocks. So, if he was upstairs and trouble occurred, he could stay upstairs and run into the hospital.
If this guy was so important as to merit two corridors, surely it would make more sense to build his house in the centre of the complex?
Anyway, this is the upstairs corridor to his house.
Incidentally Severalls has no banisters. These were all removed as… and stay with me on this one… they were all removed as they were considered…. a fire risk.
I’m not kidding.
