This square, open room occupied a central position at the back of the complex of
buildings. It was simply a shell of a building, tiled inside, with RSJs across the roof,
which tapered to a large vent.
I assumed it was used for drying clothing and sheets, but there were a lack of clothes
lines and I don’t recall any drainage.
It also had a rather sinister feel with the RSJs suggesting some heavy weights were
supported in there. Alas, because of the perimeter fence, we couldn’t examine
this room more closely. (I shall be saying ‘Alas, because of the perimeter
fence’ quite a lot during this tour.)
