The buildings were built from grey granite blocks but
added colour with red-brick window surrounds and joined the grey granite sills with red brick courses. Red brick gables, caps and finials added interest to the roof line.

The southern end of the ballroom. The crude grey block building appended to the end of the ballroom (also called Foster Hall) is a later addition for cinema equipment. The three storey building situated to its right (which can't be seen in this shot) is 'Foster Flats' and was designed as Nurse Accommodation. © Simon Cornwell 2006
