st johns | doom and gloom

I should’ve discovered this asylum earlier. Not only was it a mere fifteen minutes drive north of Rauceby, it was also on my asylum list, so I really didn’t have any excuses. But, in one of those odd acts of synchronicity, two other sites featured the asylum as I started getting e-mails about it. So, I made plans to check it out for myself.

Looking at the pictures on the other sites, I was struck by how utterly grim this building was. I mentioned it to several of the people who worked at Rauceby, assuming that patients and staff were probably transferred between the two. Whilst everyone who worked at Rauceby was very fond of their old asylum, they didn’t have good words for St John’s: they said it was utterly grim.

Which was just what I was looking for.
