The initials ‘K.P’ have been added to the brickwork, which I assumed were those of the architect.

However, Warley asylum was designed by KE Kendall – well the ‘K’ is probably for ‘Kendall’ but what about the ‘P’?

Notice the brick arches over the stone mullions. The arches bear the weight of the building over the softer stone mullions that could not take the weight alone.
