The new road simply circled around the building, and some of
the new homes can be seen in the background.
"The asylum burial ground is to the north of St. Raphael's, with just a few
gravestones remaining. I wonder how many of the people in their executive
new homes know they are looking over the burial ground of hundreds of
lunatics!"
"The burial ground at Warley still contains a few gravestones - one of
particular interest is that of John William Tebble, stoker onboard HMS
Russell. The ship was mined on 27th April 1916 just off the coast of Malta.
He died a couple of months later, so presumably was at Warley Hospital at
the time. His grave is still maintained by the War Graves Commission"
