Looking at Beedingwood now could only conjure feelings of impotence and anger. Why was this beautiful building treated in such an appalling way?

Harris also shared the frustration with the neglect and wilful destruction of many country houses. In 1974, along with Marcus Binney, he held an exhibition dedicated to the loss of the Country house. After that exhibition, no-more were lost, and the terrible swing of pick-axe, or even use of dynamite, was halted. Not so for Beedingwood.
