She was the last of the Scotts dying in 1909. The estate was then
put up for auction. The highest bidder was the West Bromwich Poor Law
Guardians who completely refurbished the hall. In 1918, Great Barr Hall became a
hospital for the mentally ill and St. Margaret's Hospital was built in the grounds.
