In one part of the cellars, falling bricks and masonry from the fire
had caused the collapse of some of the cellars. Cast iron radiators
hung above us, only held in place by rusting pipes connected to cracked
walls. We didn’t linger here but carried on into the dark cellars of the
southern part of the house.
