The field was a useful landmark, allowing me to figure out our position. Ten minutes later, we’d reached a foreboding fence behind which could be glimpsed blue pipe-work. Bingo! The area either side of the fence, for a good ten yards or so, was mown and trimmed, allowing dog walkers an easy perimeter walk on our side, and security an easy inspectoral round on the other. The dog walkers were clued up and appeared with depressing regularity, prompting fears that this wasn’t going to be as easy as we hoped. But ten minutes later we were in, running through the trampled security-patrolled area, and into the lush woods which circled the site, tripping on hidden roots and sneaking through the high bracken. As we reached the edge of the site the whole of the Pyestock was open before us.
