“The remaining two kilns, four chimneys and other buildings were Grade II listed
as Hanson pushed forward with plans to redevelop the site for housing. However, the
developer is unable to offer any viable plans for their conversion to new uses and
faced with a 20th century folly, submitted plans for their demolition. The model
village, itself protected by various listings, will remain and stand as witness
to the industry which spawned it; but whether any of the former largest brickwork
in the world survives as well is left to be seen."
