A picture taken during the war years showed female workers pressing the clay dust into "green" bricks.
The clay was moved to each pressing machine via conveyor belts in the floors above.
The archival picture also showed tracks in the other bay. Green bricks were stacked on palettes before being
loaded onto carriages which were pushed along the tracks to the kilns. These had since been removed.
