A darkened alcove (accessed via a precarious walk across a board over a concrete sump) caught our attention. The huge windows had been bricked up and we had to wait for a minute for our eyes to acclimatize to the gloom.

It was obviously the switchgear room. Transformers, switches and fuse boxes stood silent in the darkened room. Signs suggested it had all been decommissioned but we never trust electrical equipment.

We silently moved on.
