sleaford maltings | between a rock and a hard place

The wooden flight of stairs took us to the first floor of the Steep. The room was empty but this is where barley would’ve been received from the conveyors and then soaked in water in large tanks to begin the malting process.

All that remained were another set of stairs to the second floor of the Steep.
