The Dry Barley Store was in a terrible condition. The fire had ripped through the other storeys above and the ground floor was sodden and treacherous. We stopped only to take a few cautious pictures from just inside the door and then return to the lane to move south.

The stairs were rotten on the turn. I doubted much of the five storey Dry Barley Store still existed above us.

We both wanted to climb the water tower and it was now our immediate target.
