sleaford maltings | between a rock and a hard place

The second floor matched the construction of the first two but the floor was in poor condition along the axis of the building. Due to blocked downpipes and guttering, water had collected in the channel formed by the duopitch roof: this had rotted through the roof and, in turn, rotted the floor above and this floor. It was still relatively safe as this floor comprised wooden slats over the concreted barrelled roof below; but the floor above was just wooden slats over the joists as we would have to be cautious.

The conveyor system continued through this floor up into the third floor.
