As we drew closer to the SSQ, I turned to my right
and took this shot. All these buildings run parallel with the Officers’ Mess,
Sergeants’ Mess and Dining Room.
These are Barrack Blocks for the airmen. To be precise, they’re
Barrack Block Type Q with rooms for 3 NCOs and dormitories for 68
aircraftsmen, built to drawing 444/36. This is the most common building at Upwood
with several dotted around the site. Two can be seen here.
