raf rauceby

The hospital during the war. Note the blast walls around all the wards, verandas (later removed when ugly war extensions were built), and the original Main Hall (before the fire which destroyed it).

rauceby hospital

Modern view of the hospital pre-closure (note number of cars around the buildings).

"The more modern B&W aerial shot dates to the summer of 1991 at about mid day by the angle of the shadows. Around Cedar Ward garden you can see a fence, with the help of Cranwell RAF cadets (who did the post work), myself and two colleagues strung the wire that spring. You can see the stain where we mixed the concrete on the path" - Steve

Familiar view of the Chapel.

"The photo of the chapel dates from winter 1994/5, if you look on the sign post you can see the sign for Rauceby FC in the team colours, I think that this was their last season as the estates deptment stopped cutting the grass on the sports field and they had nowhere to play" - Steve
