So when I happened to find myself in Staffordshire on a sunny winter’s day in January, alongside fellow
explorer Phil, it seemed natural to pay a visit to Drakelow, now long decommissioned and in the throes of
demolition. Perhaps we could find something interesting and worth exploring on the site?
We moved around the site’s perimeter in the fading sunlight, keeping within the tree line. Security were also
moving around the site’s perimeter, but within the fence, and being very obvious about it. Overhead the hum
of high voltage electricity confirmed that the station’s substation was alive and well, despite the obvious
lack of any electricity being generated.
